Thin and light AOC 15-inch portable monitor arrives with affordable price tag

AOC has announced a brand-new portable monitor, dubbed the 16T20E2. Convoluted naming aside, the portable monitor packs a 15.6-inch FHD display, and weighs in at just around 2.43 lbs or 1.1 kg with the included stand.
The IPS panel is only 60 Hz, which might not be a big deal for folks with productivity workflows. Pixel peepers will find the 141 PPI panel quite satisfying for most use cases, although it should be mentioned that most laptops available nowadays pack much denser panels. Considering the affordable price, however, the specs definitely look alright.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the 16T20E2 portable monitor is its brightness, which peaks at just 250 nits according to AOC. Using the monitor outdoors might be quite challenging, especially on sunny days. Viewing angles should be decent, which is to be expected from an IPS panel. AOC claims 1000:1 contrast ratio, which is typical for budget panels without mini LED backlighting.

Other notable features of the portable monitor include dual 1W speakers, USB-C and mini HDMI ports, and a built-in stand that doubles as a magnetic cover. The 16T20E2 portable monitor measures in at 14 x 8.8 x 0.43 inches, and as mentioned earlier, tips the scales at just over 2.43 lbs with the stand, and 1.54 lbs without. A USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to USB-A, and a mini HDMI to HDMI cable are also included.
The AOC 16T20E2 portable monitor will be available starting later this month, and will be priced at just under £90 or around $120. Folks with a larger budget can check out the 180 Hz, QHD Arzopa 16.1-inch portable monitor, priced at around $144 on Amazon as of this writing.
Portable monitors are extremely helpful for laptop users who prefer the luxury of having additional screen real estate on the go, and it does appear that the AOC 16T20E2 monitor checks a lot of boxes for folks who are on a budget.
