There is light at the end of the tunnel for the LG G6 and V20
LG continues to leave G6 and V20 owners in the dark over when their devices will receive Android 9.0 Pie, with the company not divulging when this quarter it plans to bring the now-outdated version of Android to its two former flagships. According to MyLGPhones, a typically reliable source for LG software news, LG is still beta testing Android 9.0 Pie for at least the V20.
However, a clue to how soon it will be before the G6 and V20 see Android 9.0 Pie can be found in the Android Enterprise Solutions Directory. The OS version of both devices has recently been updated to Android 9, as reflected in the screenshots below. By contrast, the Directory lists the Q9 and X5 as supporting up to Android 8.1 and Android 8.0 Oreo, respectively.
Currently, LG has 21 days before it falls short of its promise to deliver Android 9.0 Pie to the G6 and V20 by the end of this quarter. While it is promising to see Google confirm that Android 9.0 Pie should soon be ready for both devices, we would not rule out LG inexplicably pushing the update to Q4. Previously, the South Korean company delayed the rollout of the equivalent update for V30 until this quarter, with it initially promising to deliver it in Q2. Still, this latest update seemingly confirms that there is light at the end of the tunnel for those who have been awaiting Android 9.0 Pie for their LG G6 or V20.
