A release date has been announced for the remake of this cult PS2 horror game. But be careful, because it will be necessary to wait several more months before being able to play it.

Today, numerous remakes are available, allowing thousands of players to enjoy popular titles released several years ago. And during the State of Play Japan, a release date was announced for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

If you don’t know this game, it's a survival horror that was successful when it was released on PS2 in 2003. As for its gameplay, players embody Mio Amakura and are plunged into the haunted village of Minakami, from which they have to escape.

And if most of the time, they play with a third-person camera, this changes when they use the Camera Obscura. Of course, there are mysteries to solve and dangerous ghosts to fight.

Thus, the announcement of a remake, which is scheduled for March 12, 2026, is good news for fans of horror games. Indeed, it is considered by many as a cult game thanks to its atmosphere.

In addition, a new trailer has been unveiled, and it gives many details. The graphics and textures will be more detailed, and there will be a strong contrast between shadow and light, which will accentuate the fear.

Another improvement will be present, and it concerns the game's sound. Indeed, it will be much more oppressive, and it will immerse players in the heart of the action. Finally, some new features seem to be present in this remake, which could create some surprises during its release.
