Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake marked its first anniversary on October 8, 2025, and fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the release of additional content, particularly the Born From a Wish DLC that was added as bonus content to the original 2001 game’s story, focusing on Maria’s storyline.
Silent Hill 2 Remake was released on October 8, 2024, and earned critical acclaim for its faithful adaptation of the horror classic with enhanced visuals and an alternate timeline, which was revealed via careful, yet captivating visual storytelling.
Fans have been awaiting updates on the Born From a Wish DLC’s announcement, which was rumored to be tied to the upcoming Return to Silent Hill movie. Unfortunately, expectations have been tempered when Salome Gunnarsdottir, the Icelandic actress who voiced and provided mocap for Maria in the remake, addressed the topic directly in a Twitch live stream.
Salome Gunnarsdottir, who lent her voice to Mary Sunderland in the game, debuted her streaming career on Twitch by playing Silent Hill 2 Remake on October 10, as a tribute to its anniversary.
The stream quickly attracted the attention of a massive crowd of Silent Hill fans, filling Twitch chat with questions about the long-rumored Born From a Wish DLC. Responding to questions, she addressed the situation without any official prompts from the developers:
I’m just going to– I’m not going to announce any Born from a Wish thing. Um, I have been waiting for Konami to say something. I even asked Bloober if they were going to say something, but we haven’t recorded anything from Born From a Wish. I’m so sorry. Um, I don’t know anything else. I just know I haven’t recorded any material for it. So, I’m sorry.
The original Born From a Wish DLC was exclusively released for Xbox in 2002 as a promotional tie-in and offered a roughly 30-minute epilogue that dived deeper into Maria’s perspective. It featured new enemy encounters and featured locations like Heaven’s Night Club, the Baldwin Mansion, and Blue Creek Apartments.
While Salome Gunnarsdottir's statement pretty much rules out recent or ongoing recording sessions for the DLC, it still leaves room on the table, such as pre-production work completed during the main game’s development or an NDA that could prevent her from speaking about the DLC.
