The 3.5 mm headphone jack isn't going anywhere, if Samsung has anything to say about it.
A photo has leaked that purports to show a new plastic case for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, and lo and behold it has an opening for the headphone jack. The opening is located just to the right of the space for the USB Type-C port—or at least it seems that way. There are additional openings which, according to Mashable, are most likely for the S Pen, microphone, and speaker grille.
This new leak follows another one that appeared last month, which claimed to show a rendering of the Note 8 based on a factory CAD design. Additional rumors have revealed the phone's specs, which include a 6.3-inch display, Snapdragon 835, and 6 GB of RAM; the Note 8's dual-camera setup has also been leaked.
The photo, like most things that are leaked ahead of time, has not been officially confirmed by Samsung. But with the 3.5 mm jack being present on this year's new Galaxy S8 handsets, it's not too surprising that the feature is also present on the Note 8. Unlike Apple, Android device manufacturers have generally decided to keep the jack on their new phones, from budget to premium models. Hopefully that trend continues for the foreseeable future.
