POCO has taken the 2020 Note 9 (4G/LTE) from its fellow Xiaomi subsidiary Redmi and converted it into the M3, mainly through a new backplate that spreads the housing for its triple rear camera array across the back of the phone in a branding-heavy flourish. Therefore, it is surprising that such an eye-catching and well-priced package as this has not hit more markets, the Indian one included.
However, POCO India has gotten around to annoumcing a launch event for this phone. Furthermore, the division has secured 6GB RAM units, which have only been available in Indonesia and China to date, to sell in this country. This may help it compete in a market suffused with many other affordable options.
They include Redmi's own 9 Power, which is essentially a quad-cam version of the M3, albeit without the elongated camera flourish. Nevertheless, the 2 phones share a Snapdragon 662 processor, 6.53-inch FHD+ display and 6,000mAh battery. Therefore, it will be very interesting to see how the POCO M3 will be priced when it goes live via Flipkart on February 2, 2021.
