Laptop batteries associated with the POCO branding have been spotted on Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) documents that could indicate the former Xiaomi subsidiary is planning on releasing a POCO laptop, possibly even a POCOBook. The POCO M3 smartphone was the most recent device launched by the now independent company.

Although POCO has now become an independent firm in its own right, it still seems logical for the brand to keep a close watch on what former parent company Xiaomi gets up to. While the Chinese OEM has branched out into producing affordable laptops in the form of the RedmiBook devices, it seems POCO could be considering a similar move.

Popular tech leaker Mukul Sharma (“stufflistings”) shared a portion of a BIS certification for a couple of laptop batteries: R15B02W and R14B02W. Interestingly, it can be seen in the excerpt (see image below) that these laptop battery model numbers are associated with both the Mi brand from Xiaomi and POCO. Unsurprisingly, this has led to speculation that POCO laptops could be in the cards.

A potential POCOBook would no doubt go down well with fans of the brand, especially if it was developed under the same price-performance philosophy as some of the company’s smartphones. With new Ryzen 5000 APUs on the horizon, POCO could take advantage of these, or even utilize likely soon-to-be-discounted Renoir Ryzen 4000 chips for a possible POCO-branded laptop.
