The notch has been in the headlines over the past week. Introduced by the Essential PH-1, and taken mainstream by the iPhone X, the now-familiar cutout at the top of the display is quickly becoming a mainstay in the world of Android designs. A slew of devices with the notch have been announced—or are set to be anyways—including the Asus Zenfone 5Z and the upcoming Huawei P20. The OnePlus 6 will join the legion of notched devices when it's launched, according to an exclusive by Android Central.
The OnePlus 6 featuring a notch shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, in any case. As far back as November last year, there were already reports that the device would sport one. Just two weeks ago, even, there were similar reports by multiple outlets. Of course, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei promptly denied those, but it's a bit hard to take anything the company says seriously these days.
According to the Android Central exclusive, the device will feature a 19:9 display. For those not in the know, a 19:9 display is basically an 18:9 one, but with an extra ratio figure to account for the space the notch takes. The iPhone X, for example, has a 19.5:9 display.
Notch shenanigans aside, the OnePlus 6 will be powered by a Snapdragon 845. No surprises there, either. It's also expected to sport a glass back (which could mean wireless charging support), a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and dual rear cameras.
