Movano, a health tech company, will demonstrate the Movano Ring at CES 2022, its first wearable. The Movano Ring aims to help you monitor your general health alongside mitigating the risks of chronic illnesses. The wearable will be affordable, according to Movano, and will make health and fitness data easier to understand for customers.
The Ring will have basic fitness tracking features to measure your heart rate, sleep, respiration, temperature, blood oxygen levels and activity. Movano describes the Ring's design as "smart, sleek and comfortable", with the device aimed at women of all ages.
A key differentiator for the Movano Ring versus its competitors will be how it displays the data it collects. Movano has stated that the Ring will interpret the data points, linking them together and advising you on how to reduce your risk of chronic disease. An example of this data linking would be showing heart rate changes after drinking alcohol.
According to Movano, the Ring will not be approved by the FDA before launch. However, it hopes to get Class II designation for its gadgets in the future, which would allow it to add medical features such as cuffless blood pressure monitoring and non-invasive glucose level monitoring. Movano is currently carrying out clinical trials and accuracy studies to gain the FDA's approval.
Movano forecasts that the Ring will be available in the second half of 2022 as a beta version. The device's price has not been revealed, though Movano has said that it wants it to be "one of the most affordable health devices on the market".
