Digital Eclipse has unveiled a brand-new collector’s edition of Tetris Forever, which contains either a disc version for the PlayStation 5 (approx. $499 on Amazon) or a game card for the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps the most intriguing feature here is a handheld console with a stand.
The handheld appears to be inspired by the Nintendo Game Boy, the device that helped Tetris achieve its breakthrough in many parts of the world since the game was bundled with the original Game Boy release. This new retro handheld is capable of playing just two games: the original NES version of Tetris and Tetris 2 + BomBliss. Digital Eclipse has yet to provide any further specifications for this device.
Tetris Forever features 15 classic Tetris games and a new “Time Warp” mode, which allows up to four players to battle it out whilst switching between different versions of Tetris in real time. The collector’s edition also comes with a soundtrack CD, Tetris-themed woven patches, magnetic Tetris blocks, tetromino-shaped fridge magnets, and a large Tetris Forever poster measuring 61 x 46 cm (24.0 x 18.1 in).
