About two years after one of Tesla's quirky Supercharger station design project got greenlit, the diner and drive-in movie theater with a 50s vibe is ready to be opened, perhaps as soon as Monday, July 21.
Those who got invited to the soft opening report that there is a prominent role for Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot to play in the diner's ambience.
Apart from the robot serving popcorn, Tesla will have a new black Optimus action figure that paints it as a fast-food server, complete with a box of fries. Speaking of boxes, burgers and other food from the diner's menu will come in a Cybertruck-shaped one.
The vehicles that pull up to watch a movie in the theater will have the sound rerouted through the car's audio system, again par for the course when it comes to the drive-in experience.
What's not par for the course, though, is the diner's menu that pops up on Tesla's interface display when the driver pulls in. They can order burgers, fries, milkshakes and other items from there, which will then get brought up to the car.
The soft opening of the Tesla Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard celebrated first responders, and a new fried chicken and waffle sandwich was apparently a hit with the attendees, so the diner won't stray away from the regular fare served at such places, but with a design twist.
The Tesla Diner Supercharger station will sport about 80 stalls and there were Optimus robots waving in front of them, as well as a strategically placed Cybercab.
The fusion of the 50s diner and drive-in movie theater ambience with the futuristic Cybertruck-ish vibes from food boxes, utensils, or metal trays, may turn the new Tesla Diner in a rather cool place to hang out.
This is not the only unique Supercharger station that Tesla is building, though, as it is also planning a spaceship-themed CyberCanopy in Roswell, New Mexico, for instance.
