Retro Tesla Supercharger station with 50's diner and drive-in movies gets greenlit
Back in November, Tesla submitted documents for approval of a 32-stall Supercharger station at the Santa Monica Boulevard which will also serve as a drive-in movie theater and a diner.
The retro Supercharger station has been approved by the LA Department of Building and Safety under the name Diner and Drive-In Movie Supercharger.
Tesla's charging station with two giant movie screens will be built at 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard. The restaurant part will feature "roof deck level seating" as well, while Elon Musk previously said that the movie screens will be showing famous scenes from Hollywood history.
Back in 2018, Musk tweeted that he wants to "put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA," and, lo and behold, Tesla's CEO seems to be delivering on that idea five years later.
It is not clear yet if the Supercharger piles will be of the V3 or the new faster V4 Superchargers that Tesla has started installing throughout Europe.
Major new Supercharger station coming to Santa Monica soon! Hoping to have 50’s diner & 100 best movie clips playing too. Thanks Santa Monica city!
