The Cybertruck has a HEPA filter that comes in handy when the driver turns on the Bioweapon Defense cabin air mode. Tesla has apparently made the ease of service a priority on the Cybertruck, as it showed how quickly one can replace their HEPA filter.

Tesla offers a high-class HEPA filter on the Cybertruck, which can clean the air that goes into the cabin from allergy pollens, pollution particles, spores of mold, and even bacteria or viruses. The latter allows Tesla to brag with its so-called Bioweapon Defense Mode.

The Tesla HEPA filtration testing is done in a pollution bubble irradiated with an extreme 1,000 µg/m3 concentration of PM2.5 particles that is ten times above the EPA's safety limit, and it passes with flying colors, cleaning the air surrounding the vehicle even.

While the Bioweapon Defense Mode may be a clever marketing trick, as all HEPA filters sift out viruses and bacteria, its naming scheme certainly matches the Cybertruck's alien design and its Blade Runner street cred.

What's even better, however, is that Tesla has focused on serviceability with the Cybertruck as it tries to position it as a rugged, unpretentious vehicle that can be loaded up to the gills with plywood, or taken off-road with its high suspension travel and lack of a hanging dif.

Tesla's Head of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy demonstrates at the 55:40 mark in the walkthrough video below how easy it is to replace the Cybertruck's HEPA filter. Instead of having to go to a service center like with the Model Y HEPA filter retrofit campaign, one can simply do it themselves, saving on labor costs.

The Cybertruck's HEPA filter is positioned for easy access from the so-called Powergate frunk which is otherwise pretty barren and only serves for storage and sitting purposes. A piece of the bucket liner can be pulled out with bare hands and the HEPA filter cassette behind it can be quickly unclipped. A new HEPA filter can then be installed in seconds in the midst of the zombie apocalypse that Tesla seems to have styled its Cybertruck for.
