The Camon 50 series has made its debut in select markets with the launch of the Camon 50 Pro and Camon 50. Both 4G smartphones have a revised look, a new processor, and a bigger battery than their predecessors.

Tecno has refreshed its Camon series of smartphones with two new models. The Camon 50 Pro and Camon 50 arrive as the first two models in the Camon 50 line. Both devices are 4G models with MediaTek processors just like their predecessors, the Camon 40 Pro 4G and the Camon 40.

With respect to their appearance, Tecno has largely retained the design of the previous generation, albeit with a bit of refinement. The Camon 50 now has a flat frame while the Pro model sticks to a curved frame. Both phones now have a fused volume control button instead of separate ones, while the textured AI One-Tap key on the left is now the same color as the phone.

The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro are available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, and Lavender Mist. However, the pro model gets an additional color called Ethereal Blue.

The Camon 50 series is available in a range of colors.

The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro both have a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1208 × 2644 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 2,800Hz touch sampling rate. However, while the display of the Camon 50 is flat, that of the Camon 50 Pro is curved.

Powering the two Camon 50 smartphones is the Helio G200 processor, and it is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Unfortunately, just like their predecessors, there's no storage expansion slot.

For their rear cameras, both phones have a centered punch hole for a 32MP camera. They also have a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. However, the Camon 50 Pro gets a third sensor in the form of a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

There are several camera features such as an AI 60x superzoom mode (pro model only), live photo mode, and even a water mode that allows users to record videos at a depth of up to 2 meters. The phone also comes with AI photo editing features including a glare suppressor, glare remover, shadow remover, and a feature that turns static images into 3D.

The Tecno Camon 50 Pro 4G has a telephoto camera to distinguish it from the non-pro model.

The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an infrared blaster, NFC, Wi-Fi, and an FM radio. Both devices are MIL-STD-810 certified for durability. They also have an IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance protection. There's a 6150mAh battery inside the two phones with support for 45W fast wired charging.

The phones ship with HiOS 16 which brings several AI features, but there are some other pretty useful additions too such as a one-tap transfer feature for iPhones, support for offline find my phone, and free 50GB of cloud storage for 3 years. Tecno says the two phones will receive 3 OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates. It is also assuring users that the phones will remain fluid after 5 years of use, just as they did on the first day.

The Camon 50 series have an offline Find My Phone feature and free cloud storage for three years.

The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro are already available to pre-order in Kenya for KES 34,999 (~$271/€229) and KES 38,999 (~$302/€256) respectively. Those who pre-order get a VIP service card, cashback, and a free pair of headphones.
