Crysis has become a cultural phenomenon in the realm of video games, not just because of the action, graphics, or story, but also because of the engine it runs on and its capabilities. The original game was released back in 2008, and back then, it was capable of overwhelming gaming PCs, if not push them to their limits. Since then, two more instalments have come out, and they have all been remastered as well. Those looking to experience all three for the first time can do so at a significantly discounted price.
Steam has the Crysis Remastered Trilogy listed for 60% off, and it includes Crysis Remastered, Crysis 2 Remastered, and Crysis 3 Remastered. This puts the three-game bundle at $19.78. The discount is part of Steam’s Crytek 25th Anniversary Sale, Crytek being the developer and publisher. The three games can be bought individually as well, and they are also heavily discounted. Crysis Remastered is listed for $10.49, Crysis 2 Remastered is going for $11.99, and Crysis 3 Remastered is priced at $13.49.
Crysis Warhead also came out in 2008 as a standalone expansion to the original Crysis, but it was never remastered and is not included in the bundle.
Crysis Remastered Trilogy, as the name suggests, brings modern graphical improvements to the three games, including improved textures, ray-traced lighting, DLSS support, enhanced resolution and aspect ratio support, and more.
The series was developed on an in-house game engine called CryEngine that has also been used for Far Cry, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, and SNOW. In 2016, CryEngine V was announced and is the latest version of the platform.
