Palworld recently recently finally received its full Terraria collaboration alongside a sizeable Steam Summer Sale discount, and the combination has seemingly resulted in a massive spike in player counts. According to SteamDB, Palworld peaked at 122,512 concurrent players shortly after the Tides of Terraria update launched on Steam, and it has more or less held steady since then, hovering at around 100,000 players during the ensuing weekend. Some of this is also likely due to the 25% discount that brings Palworld to its all-time low price of $22.49.
Palworld also boasts a Gold rating on ProtonDB, meaning it should run nearly flawlessly on devices like the SteamOS-powered Lenovo Legion Go S (curr. $829.99 from Lenovo US)
Tides of Terraria Palworld update adds a smorgasbord of new content
Palworld was already a very busy gaming experience, including everything from the usual creature collector battles and open-world exploration to the intricate co-op crafting and survival mechanics, but the Terraria collaboration — landing on June 24 in the Palworld v0.6.0 update — takes things to a new level. Tides of Terraria adds a whole lot of new Terraria-inspired action to the game.
As of the Tides of Terraria update, Palworld players can now explore three additional new island types — tropical, iceberg, and shipwreck — visit and mine the Terraria Dungeon, fight a new boss, the Moon Lord, craft a fishing rod for fishing and ocean materials collecting, and make a new ally with Zoe's Special Mission. The update also adds six new weapons and seven armours straight out of Terraria,
The in-game settlements have also been overhauled to make them "larger and feel more lived-in," and there are now more NPCs with missions for players. For a full run-down of the changes to Palworld in the Terraria update, check out the Steam update notes.
The Steam reviews also saw a positive uptick on June 25, the day after the Terraria update, with many players praising the game and its developers for the wealth of content and what essentially amounts to a "free DLC-sized update," which adds to replayability and rewarding exploration.
