Steam Deck and PCs get access to retro games on CD and cartridge with Polymega Remix

Polymega Remix is designed to make it easy to play your own retro game collection on modern hardware without having to download ROM files from the internet. Polymega Remix uses two components - a base unit that looks like a simple games console and a Windows app. When this base unit is connected to a Windows PC via USB cable, the app allows games to be digitized. The integrated DVD drive supports games that were originally developed for the following systems:
- PlayStation 1
- Sega Saturn
- Sega CD, Mega CD, 32XCD
- Neo Geo CD
- TurboGrafx CD, PC-Engine CD
- Polymega Collection
With separately available adapters, game modules that were intended for the following systems can also be digitized:
- NES / Famicom (via EM01)
- SNES / Super Famicom (via EM02)
- Sega Genesis / Mega Drive / 32X (via EM03)
- TurboGrafx-16 / PC-Engine (via EM04)
- Nintendo 64 (via EM05)
- Atari 2600 / 7800 (via EM06)
Once games have been digitized, they can be played on different devices via the Polymega app. At launch, Windows PCs, PC gaming handhelds and Macs with Intel processors will be supported, with an app for the Apple iPhone and iPad, for Android and for Macs with ARM chips to follow in the coming months. The app also supports virtual display modes to simulate the retro look of older TVs and patches to play ROM hacks.
