Deal | Steam Deck Certified Refurbished units now available direct from Valve
Valve has announced that it will now sell Steam Decks in Certified Refurbished condition, which might be great news for those gamers who always land on the OEM's official web-store to find their choice of iconic portable console SKU is sold out (again).
The company asserts that the units in question will come refurbished directly from its facilities and not those of other suppliers such as GameStop for the first time. This, apparently means that the consoles will have undergone a rigorous 100-stage testing process in order to gain their new official Certifications.
That title is backed to ensure that each first-party Refurbished Steam Deck will "meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units", with battery health "assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity". Then again, the consoles may come with "minor cosmetic blemishes", as may their refurbished PSUs.
These Steam Deck refurbs will come with a carrying case as normal, albeit without mention of the exclusive profile pack sold with higher-end SKUs at retail. Their new prices might prove attractive nonetheless, at US$319/€339 for the 64GB eMMC base model; US$419/€439 for the 256GB NVMe SSD alternative or US$519/€539 for the 512GB top-end SKU, which, as Valve points out, is up to 20% off a brand new counterpart.
