Cloud Imperium Games has started a new free-fly event for Star Citizen. Called the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo of 2954 (IAE 2954), this is a yearly event that will run from November 22 to December 5. Within this period, players will be able to play the multiplayer portion of the game for free.
To make things fun, the developers will rotate the selection of ships and intergalactic vehicles every 48 hours. The featured manufacturers will rotate as well, letting players check out the offerings of different ship-building companies. Four of the new options that were introduced in Star Citizen are already flyable now.
For those who get into the game a bit late, the developers will make all the ships and vehicles available from December 2 to December 5. With this, Cloud Imperium Games wants to give all the players a chance to check everything that they might have missed.
At the end of the event, every new player will get a free ship, offering a head start to those who want to stick with the game after the event is done. As for the game itself, Star Citizen offers a sandbox experience where you can explore, fight, trade, and engage in different careers.
The universe of the game is richly detailed, filled with life-sized planets and moons. Each of these celestial bodies has unique environments and points of interest. There's a player-driven economy in place, and you can earn the in-game currency through various activities.
You can then use the earned currency to purchase or rent vessels, which can also be customized with different components. Check out the video attached below to learn more about Star Citizen.
