Latest free Epic Games Store game hits playability snags for some users ↺
This week, the Epic Games Store is giving away Beholder, a strategy adventure game that generally costs $13.99 when there's no sale in place. The game will remain free until November 28, and after that, the storefront will replace it with a new free-to-keep title.
However, some players who have claimed Beholder have reported that the game was unplayable. According to the majority of these Epic Games Store users, the game simply crashed or froze when booting up. The good part is that the developers have immediately responded to these user reports.
Beholder's developers noted that the free-to-keep version had a technical issue that prevented the title from booting up correctly. The team has already issued a patch for the free version. It promises to fix the problem, but if the game still remains unplayable, the developers advised to reinstall it.
While most of the users who reported the game to be unplayable are saying that it boots up correctly, some are reporting another issue. The new reports suggest that the NPCs are not behaving as they should. This is making players get stuck at a specific level and not be able to progress any further into the story.
The developers have yet to respond to this new issue, and as the players are reporting, reinstalling Beholder isn't fixing it either. However, given that the team has responded promptly to the previous technical problem, it's possible that this bug will be fixed soon.
Despite this bug that will hopefully be resolved soon, Beholder, which has a "Very Positive" player rating on Steam, is a game worth adding to your collection. So, if you haven't claimed it yet from the Epic Games Store, note that this free game deal will expire on November 28 at 14:59 UTC.
