Sony releases Android 13 updates for Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III and Xperia PRO-I following Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV rollouts
Sony has released Android 13 updates for more Xperia smartphones, having teased the update last month for the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV. For reference, the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV appear to have received Android 13 in most regions now, with Sony issuing Android 13 as 64.1.A.0.857 for both devices. Now, Sony has started updating the flagships it released last year, with the Xperia 10 IV and Xperia Ace III remaining on Android 12 for the time being.
Likewise, the Xperia 10 III and Xperia Ace II are not in line for Android 13 yet. However, the update has reached the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III and the Xperia PRO-I. According to XDA Developers, Sony has bundled the older November 2022 set of security patches with the trio's Android 13 updates, unlike the Xperia 5 IV. The firmware numbers to look out for the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III and Xperia PRO-I are as follows:
- Xperia 1 III: 61.2.A.0.382
- Xperia 5 III: 61.2.A.0.381
- Xperia PRO-I: 61.2.F.0.147
XperiFirm suggests that these builds have yet to reach all model variants, with Sony rolling out Android 13 to the XG-BE72 and XG-BE52 variants of the Xperia PRO-I but not its XG-BE52 or XG-BE62. Similarly, the Japanese and US versions of the Xperia 1 III remain on Android 12 for now, despite 61.2.A.0.382 reaching Southeast Asian, European and UK variants. As such, it seems that Sony is issuing Android 13 in batches, with other variants likely to see Android 13 before the end of the month.
