Seiko's new limited-edition open-heart watches launch with 4R38 caliber
As per @plus9time on Instagram, Seiko Japan has scheduled the release of two new limited edition mechanical watches for the domestic market to coincide with the Spring 2026 season. These models have references SCVE065 and SSDE025, and immediately stand out, thanks to their "open heart" dial design, which features an aperture at the 9 o'clock position and that exposes the balance wheel of the internal movement. Both references have a light blue dial colorway. The watches are constructed with stainless steel cases and come with stainless steel bracelets.
The internal mechanism for both models is the Seiko Caliber 4R38. This automatic movement includes manual winding and hacking, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. It contains 24 jewels and provides a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The movement is also visible through a transparent case back, which has the "Limited Edition" text and a unique serial number on there.
The main thing that varies between these two watches is their physical dimensions. The SCVE065 is the larger variant - the case measures 42 mm in diameter, 11.6 mm in thickness, and a lug-to-lug distance of 51.5 mm. Production for this model is capped at 1,000 units. The SSDE025 is a smaller iteration, featuring a case diameter of only 34.2 mm, a thickness of 10.8 mm, and a lug-to-lug length of 41.4 mm. It has a more restricted production run of 400 units. Both models are rated for water resistance up to 10 bar (100 meters).
