Credor has launched the GCBY991 Goldfeather, a 60-piece limited watch featuring a hand-crafted Arita porcelain dial, ultra-slim stainless steel case, and hand-wound caliber 6890, with a clear focus on traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Credor has unveiled a new Goldfeather model, and this one is all about restraint. The GCBY991 Goldfeather is an extremely limited release, since production is capped at just 60 pieces.

The dial is where most of the work happens. Credor uses Arita porcelain, made in collaboration with Hataman Touen, a long-established kiln in Japan. Each dial starts as a thicker porcelain disc and is gradually carved down until the final curved profile measures under 1 mm. The blue tone comes from a clear underglaze, followed by several layers of transparent overglaze. These layers are applied and fired multiple times, which is why the color shifts gently from the center outward instead of looking flat.

The case keeps things pretty simple. It is made from stainless steel and measures 37.1 mm wide, 8.3 mm thick, and 43.2 mm lug-to-lug. Those proportions stay true to the Goldfeather name, which has always been more thin and balanced. Inside is the hand-wound Caliber 6890, a movement chosen specifically for its slim profile. Through the sapphire caseback, you can see striping, heat-blued screws, and the individual serial number engraved around the edge. A dark leather strap finishes the watch. There are no extra complications here, since this is a time-only watch.

For anyone unfamiliar with the brand, Credor sits at the very top of Seiko’s lineup. While Grand Seiko is more about precision and daily wearability, Credor is more about craft. Many Credor watches are produced in extremely small numbers (such as this one) and use techniques like porcelain dials, hand engraving, and ultra-thin movements. Quite a few models never leave the Japanese market.

The GCBY991 fits that pattern exactly. A big part of its appeal will be towards collectors who care more about how something is made than how often it is seen. Pricing and availability info is undisclosed as of now.
