Samsung silently debuts a new budget-friendly Galaxy Tab
The 2024 refresh of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has made its official debut. But the weird part about the launch is that the company didn’t formally announce it, nor did it offer any press release. However, it’s already listed in the official Romanian online store.
As for the specs, the new 2024 Galaxy Tab S6 Lite brings a different chipset than the predecessors. Samsung doesn’t say the name of the SoC, but the listing does say that the processor has an eight-core config with 2.4 GHz and 2.0 GHz cores. For reference, the 2022 refresh also launched an octa-core processor and was available with either Snapdragon 720G or 732G. However, the clock frequencies are different for the new tablet.
According to a recent Geekbench listing, it’s likely to be the Exynos 1280. Samsung paired the octa-core chipset with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of base storage. While both are average capacities for current standards, the 2024 Galaxy Tab S6 Lite features a microSD card slot that will let you add more storage. Also, the official Romanian website says Samsung will offer a 128 GB model, but it’s not yet listed.
Besides, the 2024 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a 10.4-inch TFT LCD screen on the front that sports a 2000 x 1200 pixels resolution. The Android tablet bundles with an S Pen, making it a good pick for digital artists. A 7,040 mAh battery powers the internals, which, according to Samsung, can deliver 14 hours of video playback. The website doesn’t mention the charging speed, but the previous models offered 15-watt wired charging.
Software-wise, the tablet boots One UI 6.1 based on Android 14 out of the box. Other highlights include support for Dolby Atmos, a speaker setup tuned by AKG, a 5 MP front camera, and an 8 MP back camera. There’s no word on the price of the 2024 Galaxy Tab S6 Lite yet. However, the 2022 refresh launched at a starting price of €379 (curr. $218.99 on Amazon), and the price tag for the new one should be close to that.
