Unlike more recent Samsung Android-driven handsets and tablets, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in Europe is already receiving the February 2024 security update. There is no official statement regarding the changes that come with this software refresh yet, but no new features are in the cards this time.

Although it was released in 2021 and has two successors already, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-driven Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 remains a relevant foldable in early 2024. Beyond its still potent hardware, the software support it receives is a strong reason for that, as European users of this device are already receiving the February 2024 security update.

The firmware version of the update is F711BXXS7GXAC and is based on Android 14. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 arrived in August 2021 with Android 11-based software installed. Before the end of 2021, it already received Android 12. One year latery, it got refreshed with Android 13-based firmware. In late 2023, Android 14 became available for this Samsung device as well. Obviously, the update came with One UI 6.0 on top. Before Samsung stops issuing major Android updates for it, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected to get Android 15-based firmware as well.

Returning to the February 2024 security update that is currently rolling out to Galaxy Z Flip 3 handsets in Europe, Samsung is expected to issue a changelog later this week, as more markets will begin to receive it. Even without Samsung's official confirmation, one can safely assume that the patch consists of minor tweaks and security fixes, nothing more.

Our in-depth review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G concluded that this is "a technically mature smartphone that can be stored in a particularly compact way thanks to its foldable screen" with a bright display, good cameras, and smooth operation overall. The only three drawbacks that were noticed during this review are the lack of a microSD slot, the slow USB 2.0 connectivity, and the not-so-generous battery life.

Those who missed this handset at launch and want to jump in the foldable bandwagon can do so by going straight to the Galaxy Z Flip 5, currently available for $899.99 instead of $999.99 on Amazon (256 GB, Lavender finish, US version).
