A Samsung blog claims to be privy to a comprehensive leak alleging that a second-generation Galaxy Watch Active is on the way. It apparently has 3 color options, LTE and Wi-Fi options and no rotating crown. The device is also reported to come in 40 or 44mm variants.

Update: The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is now alleged to support on-device electrcardiography (ECG), in addition to fall-detection functions, so as to compete effectively with the Apple Watch 4. This new leak also comes from SamMobile.

Samsung may be making a second-generation Galaxy Watch Active. This new possibility is derived from a leak originally posted by SamMobile. It shows a new smartwatch with a simple, clean face, a large heart-rate monitor on its base and a boot screen that says "Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2".

SamMobile has also reported that this new wearable has 3 color options (black, silver and gold), as well as a feature that may consist of tiny speaker grilles. That potential detail suggests that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 may be used to make and take calls. It also reportedly has LTE and Wi-Fi variants, which will have 340 and 237mAh batteries respectively.

The putative Galaxy Watch Active 2 may also have 40 and 44mm variants, whereas the first-gen device had different radii. It is also rumored to run One UI 1.5, which may be an improvement on earlier Samsung smartwatches. In fact, the most potentially disappointing part of this new leak is that the Watch Active 2 is depicted as devoid of the rotating bezel component seen in the Galaxy Watch.
