Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: This is how the new camera is supposed to look like

Leakers had already predicted back in April that a Samsung camera redesign was in the works, at least for the successor to the Galaxy S26 Ultra (available here at Amazon US) and likely also for the new Galaxy S27 Pro. Following this revelation, a horizontal camera bar design, often quite similar to the style of a Google Pixel, dominated concept designs, although industry insiders were not convinced.
A few hours ago, rumors have resurfaced regarding the redesign of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera, this time courtesy of well-known leaker Ice Universe, who posted a design sketch on X and Weibo. Although Ice has avoided linking the shown design directly to Samsung or the Galaxy S27 Ultra, followers and observers seem to be convinced that this can only be the apparently now final camera design of the next Samsung flagship.
Is Samsung adopting Apple's camera plateau ?
In fact, it’s not unlikely that this design actually refers to Samsung’s next flagship camera, especially since all other options are even less likely, such as upcoming ultra-flagship models from Oppo, Vivo, or Xiaomi. So if this assumption is correct, Samsung will apparently adopt a similar camera plateau design as Apple in the iPhone 17 Pro although Xiaomi’s Poco phones had a similar design way before Apple.
One advantage of this design over the current one-sided approach to camera modules would certainly be the greater stability of this Galaxy S27 Ultra on a table, provided that the two larger cameras do not protrude too far from the camera plateau. There would also be more space for magnetic Qi2 accessories than on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, for instance. In the few hours since the leak, the first AI-generated renders based on the design sketch have already appeared online. What do you think of this potentially final Galaxy S27 Ultra camera design?

Update: Leaker expects lots of criticism for design choice
In another X-post, Ice Universe "confirms" that his design sketch did in fact pertain to the Galaxy S27 Ultra. He also seems to expect a lot of criticism for Samsung's design choice. It also looks like next year might finally bring magnets to the Galaxy S27 series for the first time, although that was also expected last year already.
Update 2: CAD model shows second Galaxy S27 variant
In yet another X post, Ice Universe also shared a second Samsung design that looks like an official cad model. This may either be the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+ or Galaxy S27 Pro and looks very similar to current Galaxy S26 models. The camera plateau may thus be limited to the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
