Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) running Android Pie spotted on Geekbench
Announced in December 2017 and released in January 2018, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) arrived on the market running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In the meantime, Samsung updated this handset to Android 8.0 Oreo. Now, more Galaxy A8 (2018) units have been spotted running Android 9.0 Pie on Geekbench.
MySmartPrice apparently discovered one of the first Geekbench listings of the Galaxy A8 (2018) running Android Pie yesterday. Now, quite a few are available, although they are mixed with a bunch of database entries for the same handset with Android Oreo onboard. For now, there is no noticeable difference in performance when comparing the Pie and Oreo Galaxy A8 (2018) listings. Obviously, some improvements could be made until the official release of the new firmware.
Since we mentioned the official release date of the Android Pie update for the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) above, we should also take into account the fact that, according to the official roadmap, the new software should arrive in April. This probably means that what we see now are only units running a beta version of the software, but those using the Galaxy A8 (2018) already can only hope that Samsung will deliver the update sooner than expected.
