Aside from the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York on July 9, 2025, the South Korean company is also working on optimizing its very successful mid-range smartphone - the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G.
As tipster "Tarun Vats" has just announced on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung has started internally testing its in-house One UI 8 user interface, which is based on Android 16. In turn, this means that a beta version should be available for interested users soon.
The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G has been spotted on the company's server under the build name A566BXXU4BYF7 with the model name SM-A56B (PLS). Since "PLS" stands for Poland, we know that this is One UI 8 for the European version.
Android 16 coming with One UI 8
While the current Galaxy A56 5G was shipped with Android 15, the new user interface, Android 16 (codenamed Baklava) is expected to follow soon. This focuses on optimized app usage with improvements in productivity, multitasking, reminders and health. Additionally, the system as a whole is being further developed – including the camera, security, privacy and accessibility.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 (FE), scheduled to be unveiled on July 6, 2025, will likely ship with One UI 8. But owners of a Galaxy A56 5G won't have to wait much longer for the beta version.
