The Galaxy A53 will succeed the Galaxy A52 as Samsung's mid-range phone of choice. The A53 appears to have made the trip over to Geekbench, revealing its CPU, GPU, and RAM in the process. Sadly, though, CPU performance as shown looks to be rather disappointing.

Samsung's Galaxy A-series is the company's bread and butter, sales-wise. The Galaxy A53 will succeed the A52 as the company's mid-range offering in the line, and a Geekbench listing of the phone has now revealed some details.

Going by the leaked Geekbench page, the Galaxy A53 will be powered by an Exynos 1200. The Exynos 1200 succeeds the Exynos 1080 as Samsung's mid-range chipset. While the latter only ever found use on Vivo devices, it appears Samsung is set to equip its own device with the Exynos 1200. That's hardly great news, though, as the leaked benchmark shows the Exynos 1200 putting up some rather lackluster numbers.

The Galaxy A53 and the Exynos 1200 record a single-core score of 690 and a multi-core score of 1846. In comparison, the Snapdragon 778G on the Galaxy A52s scores 771 and 2808 respectively. This would imply a heavy regression in performance across generations but it's important to note the "energy_aware" governor on the Galaxy A53's Geekbench listing. That seems to indicate that the test was run in a power-saving mode of sorts, in which case the benchmark results are hardly anything to go by.

Other revealed information includes 6 GB of RAM and a Mali-G68 GPU, neither of which inspire confidence. Tipped specs include a 120 Hz AMOLED, a 64 MP main camera, IP68 certification, and a 5000 mAh battery. Either way, the Galaxy A53 is likely to debut in Q1 2022, so fans won't have to wait much longer for more concrete information.
