The AMD Strix Point-powered laptops have just become available for purchase, but the company has already added official support for the next-gen Zen 5 processors in its Ryzen AI software. Among the newly listed APUs are chips from the Strix Halo and Krackan Point lineups.

AMD Strix Point laptops have just hit the market, and the next-gen Strix Halo processors are expected to be released sometime next year. However, the company has already added support for the Strix Halo and Krackan Point APUs to its Ryzen AI software.

Of course, not all the new AMD chips that have seen support on the latest update of Ryzen AI are from the next-gen lineups. There's one from the older AMD Phoenix lineup, two from the current Strix Point, and two from the upcoming Strix Halo and Krackan Point.

While AMD is yet to share official details about the upcoming Strix Halo and Krackan Point, previous leaks hinted that APUs from the former lineup would boast up to 16 Zen 5 cores and the most powerful iGPU to date. This RDNA 3.5 iGPU is said to rival the PlayStation 5 (Slim curr. $449.99 on Amazon) and boasts 40 compute units (CUs), higher than the PS5 and even the dedicated RX 7600 XT.

Krackan Point, on the other hand, was leaked as "Kraken Point" before, and this lineup is expected to be announced in 2025. It will reportedly come with Zen 5 cores and will be the successor to the Hawk Point Ryzen 8040 series processors. However, Kraken Point is said to prioritize power efficiency, and the RDNA 3.5 iGPU will seemingly top at 8 CUs.

Golden Pig Upgrade at Billibilli has offered additional insight into Krackan Point. The Chinese tipster says that the lineup will utilize the same FP8 socket as the Phoenix Point and Strix Point APUs. Moreover, the APUs in the lineup are said to operate between 15W to 45W TDP range and feature new XDNA 2 NPUs with up to 55 TOPs of performance.
