Rivian R1T pickup puts Cybertruck to shame as it wades through water up to the gills
Tesla has equipped its first Cybertruck electric pickup with a nifty Wade mode that allows it to flop around in water that is up to 32 inches deep.
Lifted by its powerful air suspension system, and with the 123 kWh battery pack pressurized by the air tank for added protection, Tesla's Cybertruck can wade through rivers and creeks for up to 30 minutes as per the manual.
The flat bottom of the Cybertruck with no axles hanging allows it to beat the mighty Land Cruiser off-road favorite that goes up 28 inches, but has nothing on its direct competitor, the Rivian R1T.
The R1T is rated for the whopping 43 inches of lift in its own take on Wade mode, and its abilities to come out of tricky situations in the water has been put to the test over the weekend.
The electric pickup managed to get out of a rather deep creek that saw it waddle in muddy water that reached nearly up to its door handles or at times windows.
After much motor revving and flopping around, the off-road fun ended with the Rivian R1T able to pull itself out, sending a notice to its main competitor.
Rivian's fresh R1T facelift also offers faster acceleration than the Cybertruck, but then again, it comes with an insane amount of horsepower and a quad-motor configuration.
Despite all those abilities of the R1T, the Cybertruck's unique looks have made it a celebrity favorite, and the experiments with wrapping of its stainless steel body never cease.
Moreover, in a few short months after its introduction the Cybertruck has become America's bestselling electric pickup, beating both the Rivian R1T, and the Ford F-150 Lightning, Wade mode depth notwithstanding.
