All Cybertruck off-road abilities showcased in new test video with locking differentials help at Hell's Gate
About five months after Tesla started delivering the first Cybertruck Foundation Series units to their owners, the electric pickup truck finally got a proper Off-road Mode, locking differentials and all.
Tesla has now made a promo video for those same Cybertruck abilities as an offroader, which include a number of features meant to make going away from the beaten track easier and more fun.
The Cybertruck demonstrates its Overland, Baja, Wade, and Trail Assist modes, complete with commentaries on how and when these should be used.
The water-tight Wade Mode, for instance, lifts the truck and pressurizes the battery pack that forms the bottom of the Cybertruck as an added safety measure against water ingress. "No other truck can do this" is the tagline for several of these features.
The Cybertruck team takes the electric pickup to popular off-road places like Hell's Gate or the massive red rock formations near Moab to showcase what the locking differentials and the Baja mode can do.
During the annual stockholder event, Elon Musk teased that non-Foundation Cybertrucks may start shipping to their owners soon, which explains why Tesla is releasing this off-road promo video now.
Subsequent rumors pegged the general Cybertruck launch of the non-Foundation models for "late 2024," but the video is still a welcome overview of everything that the electric pickup can do away from the beaten path.
Tesla has also shared a CyberTent accessory test and review video where the CyberTent Mode levels off the suspension to allow sleeping on a flat surface and keeps the outlets powered, as well as the lighting on, just in time for those long summer trips.
