Rivian R1T refresh beats Tesla Cyberbeast acceleration and comes with maple wood interior
Rivian just announced the specs and features of its mid-cycle Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV refresh with up to 420 miles of EPA range.
The key specs of the 2025 Rivian R1T and R1S facelifts are rather impressive, and the top R1T trim is now faster than the Cybertruck.
2025 Rivian R1T refresh price and specs
With a new 1,025HP quad-motor config, the top R1T trim will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, faster than Tesla's tri-motor Cyberbeast trim of the Cybertruck pickup.
The 2025 Rivian R1T starting price is pegged from $69,990, but that will most likely be for the leaked cheapest base version with 92.5 kWh LFP battery pack.
Still, the top trim of the upcoming R1T refresh may be priced lower or about the same as the $100,000 Tesla Cyberbeast that is also being delivered in 2025.
For those prices, Rivian's second generation vehicles will also be landing with brand new premium interiors featuring maple wood and contrast stitching, as well as plaid textile and "burnished bronze" decoration accents.
Rivian has greatly increased the energy efficiency of its R1T and R1S refresh models, and done the Tesla Cybertruck engineering thing by removing 1.6 miles of unnecessary wiring from the electric system.
As for user-centric options and features, there will be a new pretty software menu, keyless entry via iPhone or Google Pixel phones, and cool RGB lightning in the front LED bar.
The 2025 Rivian R1T and R1S are most likely coming with Tesla's NACS port that will allow them to hook to Supercharger connectors without an adapter, but mum's the word on the placement.
If the Rivian R2 and R3S teasers are any indication, Rivian might eschew the all-important port placement at the driver's side of the vehicle, which would be a pity for those topping off at older Superchargers that don't offer the longer V4 cables.
