Cybertruck serviceability concept makes third-party wrapping easy as HEPA filter replacement

The Cybertruck's stainless steel fender costs only $550 as a replacement part in Tesla's catalog and it now turns out that its flares are really easy to pry off, too. This would facilitate the job of third-party wrap shops and speed up their work.

Tesla's Head of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy recently demonstrated how easy it is to replace the Cybertruck's HEPA filter. The frunk liner plate with the Cybertruck logo can be quickly pried off with one's fingers and it takes seconds to unclip the HEPA filter behind and replace it with a new one.

This is all part of Tesla's new self-service concept for easy parts replacement on the Cybertruck as its first rugged electric pickup that allows off-road challenges, added Mr. Moravy. That serviceability concept now seems to have been carried over to the fender flares, too.

A Los Angeles wrap shop has demonstrated how easy it is to simply pry off the Cybertruck's fender flares in case they get bruised, damaged, or simply to facilitate the application of third-party wraps over the stainless steel pickup. Just like with the HEPA filter replacement, one may simply pop off the fender flares with their fingers without applying too much force.

The only thing to pay attention to while removing a Cybertruck's fender flare is the FSD Hardware 4.0 camera there which can also be done very easily by simply pressing on and unplugging the connector at the back of the camera. The fender flare assembly underneath is itself very easy to take off by removing a couple of screws, speeding up the application of third-party Cybertruck wraps significantly.

Tesla currently offers three official Cybertruck wrap films - two in black or white color and a satin clear paint film - that it sells for $6,500 and $5,000, respectively. It would be interesting to see the final results of what might be the first third-party Cybertruck wrap application, as well as its cost compared to the official films. Given the Cybertruck's sole stainless steel finish, there would likely be a lot of owners willing to change it up every now and then with wraps.
