Classy one-man show. The website for the Toshiba Satellite P855-107 states the notebook is a “Powerful and attractive multimedia entertainment” device. This claim arouses our curiosity and makes us wonder if this is an empty promise or if Toshiba can truly deliver on its claim. In this review, we will find out.

A good looking all-rounder. With the Aspire TimelineUltra M5-481TG series Acer wants to combine in one device a lot of different specifications that one requires in a notebook: endurance, high performance, mobility, low power consumption, appealing looks. Our review will show if this is possible and if Acer has succeeded.

Aluminum armor on the cheap (?). This statement does not necessarily apply to raw material prices. Lenovo is trying to bring top quality materials to the masses at nominal prices, as seen in the IdeaPad series. So, is investing in an IdeaPad U410 worthwhile for those interested in ultrabooks? We scrutinize Lenovo's 14-inch ultrabook and try to answer this question.

ThinkMate. The Acer TravelMate P643 features a docking port, multi-bay drive, input devices with solid feedback, and sturdy magnesium hinges. Can this 14-inch TravelMate compete with Lenovo ThinkPads?

USB DisplayPort. Fujitsu introduces the PR08 USB Docking Station with DisplayPort support for high resolution displays up to 2560x1600. Based on the DisplayLink DL3900, the Fujitsu docking station allows all peripherals to be connected using a single cable. In this review, we examine the features and limitations of the new Fujitsu PR08.

Technical explosion. The 15.6-inch Devil 6700 has the last word in gaming power based on its matte Full HD display and Nvidia’s latest premium gaming card, the GeForce GTX 680M. While it goes without saying that this combination brings unlimited gaming fun to the table, does the bulky gaming notebook excel in other categories?

MacBook Pro meets Retina. At the WWDC 2012, Apple let the proverbial cat out of the bag. The company not only presented several updated models, but also introduced an all-new MacBook Pro with a 15-inch Retina display. The new model features an even slimmer aluminum unibody chassis and up-to-date hardware components. Is the price of 2279 Euro (MSRP) justified or is the older and time-tested model a better choice?

Ultrabook tuning. The Toshiba Satellite Z930 is the second-generation of Toshiba’s ultrabook line, replacing the Satellite Z830. While the case is largely the same, the newer Satellite receives an updated Ivy Bridge processor. Does this new ultrabook bring more to the table than faster calculations? Ivy for everyone. After the embargo on Intel's Ivy Bridge dual-core processors was lifted in late May, dozens of notebooks equipped with these processors came down in torrents to our editorial office. Among these were powerful gaming laptops (Alienware M18x R2), multimedia all-rounders (Asus N56 and N76) as well as several compact and mobile subnotebooks (ThinkPad X230, Asus UX31A), some of which used the new Ivy Bridge ULV processors.

A Good Idea? The $1000 you'll put down for a Y580 will net you high-end performance from some of the top-end Ivy Bridge and Kepler processors. Is this Lenovo best-seller a must-have for gamers and multimedia users on-the-go?

Consumer laptop for business. Lenovo's ThinkPad Edge E530 is trying really hard to make an attempt at being a representative of the “ThinkPad” brand for the masses. This review will evaluate whether the offering will cut it in a market looking for leaner and meaner machines.

Noble gamer. Samsung introduces the Samsung Series 7 700G7C, a high-performance gaming notebook that seeks to extend the premium Series 7 family. Featuring an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M, 16 GB RAM, a Blu-Ray drive, and illuminated elements, the elegant piano black lacquer notebook is a high-quality device with a price to match.

Standstill. The new AMD platform Brazos 2.0 has hit the market with the first few models. Will it breathe strong mobility and multimedia features into this mini lifestyle laptop in wrap design? And is the HD 7430M finally up for some gaming?

Made for Multimedia. The manufacturer Samsung has been particularly associated with the Galaxy S series of smartphones. However, Samsung is not an unknown manufacturer in the notebook field, and with the Samsung Series 5 550P5C-T02, it tries to make a case for its inclusion as a significant player in the already mature PC market.

Downgrade gone wrong. Acer's bread-and-butter notebook tries to attract buyers in the bargain-basement price bracket. We'll show you what happens when unabashed penny-pinching is applied to materials of construction, hardware, and port selection.

One more time. The Acer Aspire One netbook series has a new entry, the Aspire One 725. This new netbook features an AMD C-60 CPU, integrated AMD Radeon HD 6290 graphics card, and an HD display. Are these features enough incentive to buy this 11.6-inch netbook? Has Acer learned from the series’ previous mistakes?

A touch of tactics. Ubisoft finally dishes out seconds for friends of the venerable Ghost Recon-series. Future Soldier transports the player into the near future, where he or she fights behind enemy lines as a member of an elite special ops team. In this review, we will determine how well this title runs on different mobile GPUs.

Slim notebook, lean price. Acer introduces the ultra-thin, 15.6-inch Aspire V5-531 for those on a tight budget. Its minimal 23 millimeter (0.9 inch) thickness is matched by its nearly bargain basement price of 399 Euro ($485 USD). In this review, we consider what one can expect from this sleek yet inexpensive device.

Oh so special. Dell introduces the new and completely redesigned Inspiron notebooks - including two SE (Special Edition) models - the Inspiron 15R SE and 17R SE. Aluminum accent panels for the chassis, a more powerful graphics card and a better display all help differentiate the SE models from the standard.

King of the hill. It seems that the top-notch Transformer Pad Prime TF201 was not satisfactory for Asus. The manufacturer has taken the next step with the Full-HD Infinity TF700T, which is primed to take the throne.

Prize fighter. According to Lenovo, people should switch to the ThinkPad L530 in order to reduce their carbon footprints. While we are unable to truly test this claim for each individual user, in this review we closely examine the budget ThinkPad and determine its office capabilities.

Well-Designed Transformer. For Asus, the Transformer Pad tablet family has become a tradition. Asus places the future of the entire family on its latest addition, the Transformer Pad TF300T. Based on its powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 hardware, we believe this is a sure bet.

Moviebook. Those believing that notebook manufacturers are done innovating are obviously wrong. Toshiba recently rolled out the Satellite U840W - the first Ultrabook with a theater-like 21:9 aspect ratio. Is this a notebook specifically for movie aficionados or can other applications take advantage of the wider dimensions?

No standard MMO. With 'The Secret World', EA has released an unusual online RPG that feels different from many of its competitors. Adventure elements have taken priority over relentless grinding and common fetch quests. This Benchmarkcheck analyzes which mobile GPUs are best for low, mid, and high quality graphical settings.

Surprising sound quality. With the N56 series, Asus has updated its high-end multimedia notebooks with Ivy Bridge processors in addition to a full chassis redesign. A special highlight with this series is an external Bang & Olufsen subwoofer that can improve sound quality significantly.

Longer battery life - courtesy of Ivy Bridge. Samsung's Series 9 top-of-the-line model delights us again with its unibody construction and perfectly executed input devices. The new processor allows for longer run times on battery. The HD+ display remains unchanged.

Inexpensive base model. We recently reviewed the HP Pavilion g7-2051sg with just average results, but now its fraternal twin has to withstand our test. Is this basic configuration a notable improvement?

Old acquaintance? The latest member of the ThinkPad T Series, the T530, features one major change from its ThinkPad heritage – a chiclet-style keyboard. Aside from some hardware updates and the implementation of an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, the familiar ThinkPad style and quality have been maintained.

Multimedia with style. A chic multimedia all-rounder for a small price. Sony gives you a nice feature set in the affordable SV-E14. A portable form factor for people on the go. But do screen and battery life make it an optimum solution?

Mobility with obstacles. Asus combines AMD's frugal Fusion APU with opulent fittings, and a strong battery to create an attractive sub-notebook. We'll tell you here whether or not Asus has succeeded in spite of a reflective 13.3-inch screen and other weaknesses.

CrossFire deluxe. Hardcore gamers who don't care to make friends with a desktop PC have come to the right address with Alienware. The massive M18x is looking for customers in its second revision now with dual GPU solutions. Does a double Radeon HD 7970M mean double the fun?

The cheaper, the better: Those with very basic needs are able to find a decent selection of laptops in the 400 Euro - price range. In this review we will determine if the Acer Aspire 7739Z, which starts at 375 Euro, is truly the bargain it appears to be.

Minimal upgrade. Acer has updated the Aspire One 722 to offer more performance. In this review, we will determine whether Acer has achieved its goal with the inclusion of the AMD C-60 CPU and Radeon HD 6290 GPU and will also examine what other improvements Acer has made.

Hothead. MSI presents the CX70, a 17 inch multimedia notebook based on the latest Ivy Bridge platform. The laptop was reviewed and compared with its cousin, the MSI GE70, which is on sale for a slight premium.

Highest end. Is money no object? If one is prepared to spend 3000 Euro ($3660 USD) on a 13.3-inch business notebook, one can certainly delight in the Sony Vaio SV-S13A1Z9E. A 512 GB SSD RAID, 12 GB RAM, and integrated LTE are merely a few of the options that the Vaio has to offer.

Cool hardware in an average laptop. The Asus K55VM-SX064V is offered by online stores for prices starting at about EUR 840 (~$1050) which is a steep price for a 15.6 inch notebook. You should expect quality hardware, service and high performance for the amount being spent. We will see if Asus ticks all the boxes with its offering in this review.

Fast-booting system hits series production. The pre-production model of Sony's Ultrabook left a good impression overall but it wasn’t without faults. Sony's production model has been improved in many ways - but some things are still amiss.

Cheaper. After the review of the N56VZ with the powerful GeForce GT 650M, we will now have a look at the cheaper model with a GeForce GT 630M.

Gamers' choice? MSI hopes to attract mobile gaming fans with the MSI GE60. The 15.6-inch notebook promises strong application and 3D performance with its combination of Core i7 processor and a 600-series Nvidia graphics card based on an already-tested barebones system and a matte, Full HD display.

An attractive proposition. Just in time for the London Olympic Games, Acer releases a 10.1 inch tablet with modern hardware - the Iconia Tab A510. For EUR 399 (~$500) you get an Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC, 32 GB of internal memory and Google Android 4.0 ICS. We will review the tablet to evaluate its value for the price.

Sluggish, Quiet Performer in Pearly White. Sony's Vaio series is famous for its exclusive design. The third generation VPC-EH3C0E/W with us uses the well-known case design. The looks may be good for marketing, but what about the performance of the Vaio notebook? We take a closer look.

The entertainer. Asus claims its NV76VM is the perfect multimedia notebook, boasting enough computing and graphics power, a good screen, and practical interfaces. In this review, we scrutinize to what extent the Asus NV76VM lives up to these claims or possibly even surpasses them.

A lean and mean performer. The latest Intel Core i7, a middle-class AMD graphics card and an SSD in an top quality upper-class subnotebook. Can the Sony VAIO attract the target group?Does the Sony Vaio appeal to you?

APU alternative. In our last review, we were pleased with the performance-to-price ratio of the Lenovo X121e. In this review, we will determine if the same is true for the AMD E-300 APU variant as well.

Battle of the Giants. A few weeks after AMD launched their flagship HD 7970M, Nvidia took the spotlight with the reveal of the GTX 680M. The GeForce GPU is said to outperform the Radeon HD 7970M in nearly all aspects: performance, features, and energy efficiency. We compare the two graphics solutions to find out who takes the mobile graphics crown.

Ultrabook update. We reviewed the Samsung Series 5 530U3B-A01DE in mid-March 2012. The ultrabook has now been revised to feature an Intel Ivy Bridge dual-core processor. Virtually everything else, including the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of 799 Euro ($999 USD), remains unchanged. In this review, we will examine exactly what has changed and who would benefit from the revision.

Affordable Ultrabook. Lenovo updates their sleek IdeaPad U300/U400 Ultrabook lineup with new Ivy Bridge-equipped IdeaPad U310/U410 models to take on the rest of 2012. Do the upgrades go beyond just the CPU and GPU changes?

Not a good buy. According to HP's German website, the Pavilion g7-2051sg is "simple and appealing". The desktop replacement based on AMD's Trinity platform is simple, that we can confirm. Appealing? Only to an extent.

Little progress. The Galaxy Tab 2 series represents Samsung’s revision to its successful Galaxy Tab family and features models in 7.0 and 10.1 inch sizes based on Android 4.0. Upon review, we found that the revamped devices cannot compete with other current tablets.

Chronos optimized. Samsungs 17-inch Chronos wants to eliminate the weaknesses of it's 15.6-inch brother by improving more than just the display. Big surprise: Crystal clear sound using a subwoofer.

Time for Games. May was dominated by potent gaming hardware. We tested Nvidia's Kepler chips and many Ivy Bridge processors. Exciting: The gaming powerhouses from Alienware, Asus, and BTO vendors like Schenker or One. Here, we summarize last month's reviews.

Midrange power. Deviltech proves that high-performance notebooks do not inevitably have to be high-priced with the Fire DTX. Thus, Nvidia's GeForce GT 650M is already installed in the basic configuration for EUR 769. The Ivy Bridge processor and the matte Full HD screen are additional purchase incentives. We will uncover the 15 incher's strengths and weaknesses.

Affordable Thin-and-Light. The lightweight Portégé series will be refreshed this year as the all-new Ivy Bridge R930 series, but does the Sandy Bridge R830 series still have some life left in it?

Lean GT gamer. The GE range aims at tighter budgets and bids midrange hardware. The matte FHD screen is appealing, but SteelSeries has not done itself a favor with the keyboard. What is possible with the combination of a GT 650M GPU and Intel's i5 Ivy bridge processor?

Heavyweight fight. 17 inch screen too small for you? Asus' A95V series might be worth a look. Mobility is a foreign concept to this over 4 Kilogram heavy laptop, but in return, you get an Ivy Bridge quad core CPU and the ability to install desktop hard drives.

Slimmed Vostro. Dell has not only reworked its smallest, 13 inch scion from the business sector, it has also been put a radical diet. This leads to a mostly successful symbiosis of office laptop and ultrabook that will particularly appeal to students and business travelers.

Ready for the Finale. Asus is one of the first manufacturers presenting a gaming laptop with Ivy Bridge processor and GeForce 600 graphics card. After scrutinizing an amply equipped pre series model with Nvidia's 3D vision technology, a series model with standard FullHD display has to prove itself.

Premium slim case. Amidst Samsung's Series 9 refresh, there is now a model featuring a matte 15 inch screen available. In return, the smallest member has not been updated. The South Korean manufacturer demands steep EUR 1999 (RRP) for speedy hardware in a slim case.

Budget tablet? Archos is not a newcomer on the tablet market. The French manufacturer offers tablets in all sizes from 7 to 10 inches and price ranges. While high quality devices are released under the company name, the label "Arnova" is to satisfy the competitive budget sector. The Arnova 10b G2 has the biggest screen among economy tablets. But what can you expect for less than EUR 200?

One, Two, Three. At the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, HTC introduced three Smartphones of the brand-new "One" series. We present a comparison test between the runner-up and the top dog. Miracles happen. The first rumors about Asus' new, revised Zenbook series made some waves: Full-HD IPS displays in skinny 13" cases. Hard to believe: non-reflective display surfaces! The rumors turned out to be true, in front of us sits an Asus UX32VD, one of the first specimen of the series with the sought after display panel.

Ivy Bridge meets Kepler. The latest revision of Asus' popular 15.6-inch Republic of Gamers laptop, now known as the G55VW, is large and heavy enough to belong in the desktop replacement category. However, this tradeoff in weight is compensated by an also large and very efficient cooling solution.

Upgraded Professionalism. The 2012 refresh of the X220 may look the same on the outside, but the X230 is the first in the 12.5-inch lineup to introduce both the an Ivy Bridge CPU and the new "Precision" Chiclet keyboard in place of the traditional beveled design. Has Lenovo hit a home run? Or is the backlash against the new keyboard design really warranted?

The Second Ivy Bridge. After the quad core models were successfully launched in April, the dual core Ivy Bridge processors are following now. We checked how the new notebook and ultrabook processors perform and whether Sandy Bridge owners should upgrade.

Noisy and Fast. Classic gaming laptops too boring for you? The Alienware M14x could be an interesting alternative then: With current hardware from Intel and Nvidia, packaged in a unique case design, Alienware tries to woo customers. Is this enough to justify price and emissions?

17 inch netbook? A 17 incher in a wooden case that only costs just under EUR 500? Something is wrong here. The wooden texture is actually plastic and AMD's E-450 netbook processor is inside.

It's partytime! While Nvidia's Kepler flagship still keeps us waiting, AMD's new Radeon HD 7970M is seriously mixing up the gaming notebook segment. In combination with Intel's new Ivy Bridge processors, Alienware had enough reasons to refresh its Luxury gamer M17x. Will the 17" notebook be able to score our "Gaming Reference" title again?

Dirtier than ever. With Dirt Showdown the race game expert Codemasters follows in the footsteps of the action-packed Flatout series. Traditional rallies are passé for now. The developer focuses on flashy demolition derbies. Find out if the track also pushes mobile graphics cards to their limits.

Hardware-Update. Hardly any other notebook was followed with such a great interest than the Clevo W150ER in 2011. Powerful components and a decent non-reflective display: the 15-inch all-rounder features a successful and rather unique blend. In 2012 Schenker release an update. The XMG A502 focuses more on inner components than on chassis.

Beautiful gap filler. A tablet fills the gap between Notebook and smart phone. Is there still room for a small tablet? The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus N, revised for Germany - with regards from Apple's lawyers - looks good at any rate and has its Raison d'être. And there's more than just good looks.

Hybrid book. Sony sends an ultrabook into the ring called SVT1311M1ES. An aluminum case and Intel Core i3 processor are to lure customers. A special highlight is the hybrid hard disk. It fuses the size of a conventional HDD with the speed of an SSD. Will Sony's Vaio ultrabook also be convincing in our tests?

Goodbye Ethos. Acer uses the change to the new Intel Ivy Bridge processors as an opportunity for completely renaming single ranges. For example, the prior Ethos range will now be called Aspire V3. However, the alignment remains unchanged: we are dealing with the premium multimedia sector.

Flat multimedia tablet. The Xoom 2 Media Edition is very compact. Motorola opted for a somewhat unusual screen size of 8.2 inches, which is located somewhere between the common sizes of seven and 10.1 inches. Can the 9 millimeter flat slate live up to Motorola's multimedia promise?

A subnotebook on steroids. A quad core processor and gaming graphics card in a just 11.6 inch laptop - that cannot possibly go well, or can it? Based on a Clevo W110ER barebone, Schenker's XMG A102 wants to debase the one or other established high-end DTR.

Bass & Full HD. A new processor and graphics chip, EUR 200 cheaper, but otherwise unchanged. This best describes the newest model of Asus' N55S range. A matte screen with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and an included subwoofer are to make multimedia fans' hearts beat faster.

Expensive high-end fun. MSI sells a lavishly equipped gaming notebook for almost EUR 2200. A BluRay burner and two mSATA SSDs set up in a RAID array are found under the hood of the GT70. The matte Full HD screen, the illuminated keyboard and the good sound system are also impressive. Reason enough for contenders to panic?

Unspectacular. In February, Asus presented their new Eee PC 1011CX with an Intel Atom N2600 dual-core CPU and a 10.1 inch display, along with six other models. The chassis, however, has only changed to a limited extent over these years. In this review, we shed light on whether or not performance has improved and exactly what changes have been made, both externally and internally.

Dark Waters. The Gothic creator Piranha Bytes has turned to a medieval fantasy world in its recent pirate RPG Risen 2. Despite partly outdated technology, the title creates a very special atmosphere. We test which graphics card is required for optimum visual quality in this review.

Thunderbolt for everybody? Although many Macs feature a Thunderbolt port, it is not often used as the few peripherals offered are either expensive or rather specific. Could Seagate's Thunderbolt adapter gain more popularity among users?

Mobility? Limited. Sony ranks the Vaio VPC-YB3V1E/S as a particularly slim notebook, but also explicitly avoids labeling it as a "netbook". This raises a rather important question: is this a premium netbook or truly an entry-level notebook? Our following review and tests will answer this question and more.

New model, old performance? The Acer Aspire One D270 offers the latest Intel Atom processor generation based on Intel's Cedar Trail platform. For EUR 300, the buyer even gets a notebook with Bluetooth 4.0 that only a few notebooks feature. Is it great progress or just big names for Acer to put on its list?

Wanted: Excellent Display. Apple have demonstrated that customers are willing to pay steep prices for devices with perfect displays. This summary explains why there are so few notebooks following this strategy and refers to the few exceptions.

Let there be light! Clevo's P170EM Barebone (the base of the XMG P702) is impressive like its predecessor: lightning fast hardware, great connectivity, excellent input devices, and various upgrade and configuration possibilities. New features, such as the backlit keyboard, make the 17 inch model into an attractive packet.

Ivy rocks! The integrated HD 4000 has become Intel's new backbone in the integrated GPU market. Not only does the new GPU trump the HD 3000 of yesteryear, entry-level GPUs from Nvidia and AMD may have a lot to fear as well.
