Review verdict: Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G8 - A powerful business laptop with long battery life

With the ThinkPad E14 G8, Lenovo is updating its compact business classic, primarily in terms of technology. Our review unit combines the AMD Ryzen AI 7 345 with 16 GB of RAM, a fast PCIe SSD, and the integrated Radeon 840M. It also features a matte 14-inch WUXGA display, Wi-Fi 7, and two USB4 ports.

In everyday work use, the ThinkPad impresses with solid system performance, quiet operation, and long battery life. The tried-and-true ThinkPad keyboard, the TrackPoint, and the extensive maintenance options—including two SO-DIMM and two M.2 slots—are further pluses. Even under heavy load, the laptop remains pleasantly quiet and delivers stable performance.

The 400 cd/m² IPS display isn’t entirely convincing. The WUXGA resolution and matte finish are well-suited for business use, but the color gamut coverage, limited to 45 percent NTSC, restricts its suitability for demanding image editing. In addition, the test unit’s single-channel RAM configuration compromises performance with the integrated Radeon 840M.

Important for prospective buyers: Lenovo offers the ThinkPad E14 G8 in its own online store (German online store) with numerous configuration options. In addition to the 2.8K display with 120 Hz and optional touch functionality, the notebook can also be customized with other components to meet personal needs.
