The sporting good brand Reebok is entering the smart ring market by challenging the Oura Ring 4 and Samsung Galaxy Ring with a brand-new wearable that can summarize fitness, health and wellness data into a single score.

Smart rings are slowly but surely becoming a popular alternative to smartwatches, as products like the Oura Ring 4 (from $349 on Amazon) collect comparable data but are more comfortable to wear, especially while sleeping or doing other activities. Therefore, Reebok has now partnered with fitness specialist F45 to launch its own smart ring.

The ring offers the same sensors as most competing products, including a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, an accelerometer and a skin temperature sensor. With this hardware, the ring can also calculate heart rate variability and stress levels, as well as track sleep. The Reebok Smart Ring further records steps taken, active time spent as well as calories burned.

The Reebok Smart Ring primarily tries to stand out from the competition with its so-called "One Score". This is a numerical rating from 0 to 100 that incorporates all data that the ring tracks in terms of health, fitness and wellness data. This supposedly allows users to see their current health and recovery status at a glance. Sleep quality and stress level receive a separate rating on a comparable scale, so users do not need to analyze data and trends to get an overview.

Price and availability

The Reebok Smart Ring is now available in the US for $249. Details regarding a global launch are still pending. More info on the newest Oura competitor is available on Reebok’s official website.
