RedMagic reveals new Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 rival with OLED display

RedMagic has been teasing its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tablet for quite a while now. It was initially planned to be released alongside the 11S Pro phone series, but the Legion Tab Gen 5 rival was eventually delayed. Now, it's set to launch in China on June 30, 2026, and the company has showcased the pad in new official photos.
The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which is expected to have a different name in the global market, has a similar design to the last-gen RedMagic Astra. One primary difference is the RGB "water cooling" strip on the back.
Under the hood, the tablet is confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it's not the "Leading Version" that powers the RedMagic 11S Pro series. Even so, the active cooling system should make the SoC offer good performance under heavy loads.
Other specs of the gaming tablet have yet to be confirmed by RedMagic, but previous reports hint that it will come with a 9-inch OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate. This would be a major highlight against the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5, which sports an LCD display (curr. $699.99 on Lenovo).
Past reports further suggest that this RedMagic gaming tablet will sport an 8,300mAh battery, which wouldn't be much of an upgrade over the Astra. It's also expected to sport up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The company will likely confirm some of these specs before the June 30 launch in China.
