RedMagic confirms imminent launch of new flagship gaming tablet with OLED display

RedMagic officially teased the Tablet 5 Pro in April 2026, and while it was expected to launch alongside the 11S Pro series phones, the launch of the gaming tablet was delayed. Now, with a new announcement, the company has confirmed that the Chinese debut is around the corner.
To be specific, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 gaming tablet is now set for a June 30, 2026, launch in China. RedMagic usually launches its products to the global market shortly after the Chinese debut, and the case could be the same for this one. It's, however, unclear what the tab will be called in the international market. Some are speculating that it will be named "Astra 2."
While not much about the flagship tablet has been confirmed by the company, previous reports have shared multiple core specs. This Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tab is expected to feature a 9.06-inch OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, which would be a big advantage over the Lenovo Legion Tablet Gen 5.
For reference, the Lenovo gaming tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has an IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Past reports have also hinted that the upcoming RedMagic tab will sport a battery larger than 8,300mAh, and it's expected to feature up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
A cooling setup similar to the RedMagic 11S Pro series, RGB lighting, and three color options were also reported. There's still no word on the price, but it's worth noting that the Legion Tablet Gen 5 has seen quite a price jump over its predecessor (curr. $699.99 on Lenovo). The same could happen with RedMagic's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tablet.
