Recall: Belkin urges users to stop using BoostCharge power bank immediately
Belkin is recalling all units of the BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger for Apple Watch + Power Bank 10K. This is a voluntary global recall for the product, which launched in 2023 with model number BPD005.
According to Belkin, some units appear to have a manufacturing defect that can cause overheating of the lithium cell element of the wireless battery charger. Therefore, there is a fire hazard associated with using this product. Thankfully, the company has reported that no customers have reported injuries. It appears that this fault only affects this particular Belkin product.
The company advises users to stop using the portable charger immediately and to keep it disconnected from any device power supply. It should be stored in a dry location away from flammable items and should not be placed in any kind of bin. Details on how to safely dispose of the product can be found here.
Belkin is offering a full refund to all customers; you can apply to get your money back using this recall form, which requires the Product Serial Number. If you are looking for an alternative product, you could consider the Anker MagGo Power Bank (10K, 35W, For Apple Watch), which typically retails for $79.99 but is currently available for $54.99 at Amazon in a Black Friday deal.
