Anker is said to be working on shorter versions of two of its latest USB-C to USB-C cables. Rumors about these new accessories began on Reddit when details were shared by reliable tipster u/joshuadwx.
The first is the Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided) which launched in June and is currently available in 3 ft (90 cm) and 6 ft (180 cm) lengths. As its name indicates, the cable supports 240W charging and a 480 Mbps data transfer rate. According to the brand, the cable will last for over ten years; it can withstand loads of up to 100kg (~220 lbs) and more than 30,000 bends.
The second is the Anker Prime USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided). This model arrived in August, and comes in the same 3 ft (90 cm) and 6 ft (180 cm) lengths. It also offers 240W charging and 480 Mbps data transfer speeds. However, it is more durable, with Anker suggesting it can handle over 300,000 bends. Plus, it has a wide operating temperature range of between -40°C and 80°C (-40°F and176°F).
The two new shorter cables will measure 1 ft (30 cm). It is unclear when they will launch and in which countries. As an indication of price, the 3 ft (90 cm) Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided) and Anker Prime USB-C to USB-C Cable (240W, Upcycled-Braided) retail for $21.99 and $29.99, respectively.
