The Realme 3 is the company's newest device. (SmartPrix)
Realme released its first device just under a year ago as a means for OPPO to sell cheaper devices towards a younger demographic. Since then, the company has sold six million smartphone units and is celebrating that milestone with a number of discounts.
OPPO unveiled its Realme sub-brand last year in an attempt to take on Xiaomi's high-value Redmi series. That move is appearing to have been something of a masterstroke, as the young company has confirmed that it has sold six million smartphones, less than a year after its first device was released.
Realme has released six devices so far: The Realme 1, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1, Realme U1, and Realme 3. That means that the company's products have averaged a million sales each. That isn't quite on par with Redmi, though, as Xiaomi's sub-brand has shipped 4 million units of the Redmi Note 7 phones in about three months. It's still impressive, though.
To celebrate its achievement, Realme is offering discounts on some of its products in India. Potential buyers of the Realme U1 and Realme 2 Pro could shave up to Rs 2,000 off the regular retail prices of the devices. All deals end on April 12.
