The Realme 14x has been unleashed on the Indian market with the same advanced durability ratings and battery size as a new Android flagship for a fraction of the price. Not so in Malaysia, however, where the same smartphone is now available with significant compromises on both of its class-leading selling points.

Smartphone fans in India on the hunt for a new device with an up-to-date IP69 rating and 6,000mAh battery could consider the OnePlus 13 at its new flagship price of at least INR 69,998 (~$812) today (January 25, 2025) - or the Realme 14x, which boasts the same attributes at a fraction of the price.

The device has now also made its way to Malaysia - however, it is not the same 14x that debuted elsewhere beforehand. It still has a 120Hz Eye Comfort display and dual rear cameras in a "Minimalist" (or "Samsung Galaxy S25-like") housing - however, gone is the IP69-for-less, "Diamond Design" hype for its slim and light iPhone-esque design.

The 14x retains "Military-Grade Shock Resistance" in its new market, yet is no longer touted as capable of feats such as the ability to survive dips in 85°C water. Instead, it is promoted as having "5G for Everyone" thanks to the same Dimensity 6300 silicon as the Indian version.

The final insult to this injury is the battery, downgraded to 5,000mAh and to 15W charging via USB-C on top of that (as opposed to 45W in the 'original' 14x).

It does, at least, have a new Peridot Green color that is exclusive to Malaysian customers, who can also buy the device in Carbon Black.

Both SKUs also have 8GB of RAM to go with its 256GB of internal storage (whereas the 14x starts at 6GB in India).

They go for 1,099 Malaysian ringgit (MYR, or ~$251) via Realme's TikTok shop for the country - whereas the 14x Indian Edition now starts for INR 14,898 (~$173) on Amazon.in.
