Rad Power Bikes has revealed the RadTrike 1, the company’s first electric tricycle. The e-trike can handle loads up to 415 lbs (~188 kg) and travel at speeds up to 14 mph (~22.5 kph). The US model will launch early next year with a half-twist throttle; a less powerful pedelec version could launch in Europe in 2024.

The RadTrike 1 has been revealed exclusively for the US. The electric tricycle, a first from the brand, is suitable for adults with a 415 lbs (~188 kg) load capacity. The company claims that many customers have requested the new model. The model has a 750 W motor and a half-twist throttle with a 14 mph (~22.5 kph) top speed. You can select from five pedal assistance modes, and the tricycle has a low-profile cadence sensor.

A 480 Wh battery enables you to ride with assistance for over 55 miles (~88 km), and ten integrated lights indicate its charge level. Other features of the e-trike include a parking brake, auto-on lights and a rear rack. You can fold the handlebars to make the model easier to store or transport. The RadTrike 1 has a low step-through height measuring 13.4-in (~34 cm). According to the company, the vehicle is suitable for riders from 163 to 185 cm (~5 ft 4-in to 6 ft 1-in) in height.

You can currently pre-order the Rad Power Bikes RadTrike 1 electric tricycle in the US for US$2,499. The trike is expected to ship locally from January 17. A European model is forecast to land in the EU and the UK in 2024 if there is sufficient interest. This version of the e-trike would have a 250 W motor but not have the half-twist throttle.
