RTX 4070-powered Lenovo Yoga Portal mini PC launched with desktop-class Intel i7, 32 GB of memory and 1 TB storage
Lenovo has launched its latest high-end mini PC in China, dubbed the Yoga Portal. This mini PC boasts formidable internals, packing a desktop-class CPU and discrete graphics. Considering the specifications, the Yoga Portal is unsurprisingly priced at a premium, starting at an introductory pre-sale price of 17,999 Yuan, which is equivalent to around $2,480.
The Yoga Portal rocks a boxy design that will most likely integrate seamlessly into any setup, avoiding any flashy "gamer vibes" unlike certain other high-end mini PCs such as the AtomMan G7 Pt from Minisforum. The 3.7-liter chassis itself is relatively compact and the entire system weighs around 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg). It is clearly evident that the Yoga Portal's design draws inspiration from Apple's Mac Studio, reflecting the latter's minimalist elegance.
As stated previously, the Lenovo Yoga Portal packs some seriously impressive desktop-class hardware under the hood, unlike other mini PCs such as the AtomMan X7 Ti (curr. $848 on Amazon) which sport laptop-class processors. The mini PC is powered by the Intel i7-14700 'Raptor Lake' CPU with 20 cores and 28 threads, and a single-core boost clock of 5.4 GHz paired with 32 GB of upgradeable DDR5 memory. A 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD is offered, which is user-upgradeable as well. A desktop-class RTX 4070 takes care of the graphics, which is sure to effortlessly chew through demanding workloads as well as high-end gaming. The lack of an AMD option for the CPU might displease some people, considering the widespread stability issues that Raptor Lake has been experiencing.
Undeniably, with such beefy internals packed into a compact chassis, thermal management will factor heavily into the Yoga Portal's real-world performance. This, however, can only be verified through independent testing. On paper, its cooling solution appears to be sufficiently robust, boasting triple fans and separate copper heat sinks for the CPU and the GPU with a total heat dissipation capacity of 240 W.
As for connectivity, the Yoga Portal gets a generous array of ports including USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A as well as Type-C ports, a bunch of DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1, a 3.5 mm jack as well as an RJ 45 ethernet port. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E.
