Plaud adds Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI to Plaud Note AI voice recorder through Pro Plan subscription
Plaud has added the Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI model to its Plaud Note AI voice recorder through a Pro Plan subscription. Plaud Note is a credit card-sized voice recorder that automatically transcribes and summarizes meetings, lectures, conversations, and instructions in 57 languages. The voice recorder can be used as a standalone device or attached to the back of cellphones.
AI models are created by different companies with different strengths and weaknesses. GPT-4o has access to current information on the Internet, while Claude 3.5 is limited to the information it was trained on prior to release. Biases in the AI model training and other factors can result in one model performing better when summarizing transcripts, especially when specialized fields of knowledge such as law, engineering, and medicine are involved. Plaud acknowledges that AI models are in rapid development and no single model is the best for all use cases.
Plaud Note uses AI models such as ChatGPT GPT-4o and now Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet to automatically recognize speakers and transcribe spoken speech in 57 languages. Once speech has been transcribed, Plaud Note can provide over 15 types of custom summaries for review. The voice recorder has 64 GB of storage able to hold up to 480 hours of recordings. A rechargeable battery powers the device for 30 hours between charges.
Purchase of the Plaud Note comes with 300 minutes of free GPT-4o transcriptions per month and a free magnetic case allows users to attach Plaud Note to the back of MagSafe iPhones. Additional minutes, custom summary templates, or access to Claude 3.5 requires a Pro Plan subscription of $79 per year on the Plaud website. The company says it follows strict data privacy laws, encrypts and anonymizes user data, but as you probably already know, any data put online has the potential to be hacked and stolen.
The Plaud Note has a $159 MSRP, but is currently discounted to $127.20 on Amazon during 2024 Prime Day sales. Readers who cannot use an online-connected device for work on sensitive recordings can always fall back to using a regular digital recorder (like this one on Amazon).

Select a Custom Template : Choose an existing custom template you've created. This is required to use Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
Choose Claude 3.5 Sonnet : Select Claude 3.5 Sonnet as the AI model for generating the summary. Currently, it only supports custom templates, but will soon be available for all templates.
Generate Summary : Click the "Initiate Generation" button to generate your summary using Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
