Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds get a new color but lose another

Google announced the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in a new color at its Made by Google event. However, rather than bring the available options to five, there are only four colors to choose from.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 can be purchased in Olive, which is one of the colors the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold come in. It also matches the Pixel 11's Pistachio color option. The earbuds can be purchased in the new color now, and the best part is that they are on sale for $189 ($40 off) on the Google Store. They are also available on Amazon, but at full price.

With the launch of a new color, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 should be available in five colors, but the Google Store has only four. It turns out that the new Olive color replaces the Moonstone colorway that was announced last year alongside the Pixel 10 series. Thankfully, while Google doesn't have it anymore, other retailers still have it in stock. Amazon, for instance, has it on sale for $189, alongside the original three colors — Hazel, Peony, and Porcelain.

In addition to getting a new color, Google has announced that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will be getting new features in September 2026. First, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will get a new feature called Dynamic ANC which automatically adjusts when there are subtle shifts in the seal, so users still get powerful noise cancellation.

The other features, which should be coming to both the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a, include Gemini Audio Control which allows users to control their earbuds settings with Gemini. Google says users can simply say commands such as ''Hey Google, turn up the bass''.

Also, if you own a Pixel Watch and it detects you have fallen asleep with your earbuds on, it will pause playback, disable touch controls, and silence your notifications. Google calls this feature Pixel Watch sleep sync.

Last but not least is an upgraded Live Translate. According to Google, users will be able to activate listening mode without touching their phone. All they have to do is tap their earbuds to activate it, and they will be able to understand over 70 languages in real time as the earbuds will translate what the speaker is saying. In addition, when speaking to someone else in another language, your Pixel phone will play the translation to the other person in their language.
