PineBuds Pro: PINE64 launches TWS earbuds with better ANC than Apple AirPods Pro
PINE64 has started selling the PineBuds Pro, a pair of TWS earbuds that the company announced in April. According to the company, the PineBuds Pro rely on 6 mm dynamic drivers, which the company claims outperform typical 10 mm drivers in audio quality and bass reproduction while delivering a 20Hz-20KHz frequency response. For reference, PineBuds Pro put these 6 mm drivers to use with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity but only the AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs.
Additionally, PINE64 states that each earbud contains 3 microphones to deliver up to 45 dB of Hybrid Adaptive ANC between 50-200 Hz, or -55 dB max attenuation at 150 Hz. Not only does the company claim that the PineBuds Pro is ‘the most advance active noise-cancelling wireless earphones’, but it also has also provided a graph demonstrating the earbuds' superiority over the AirPods Pro 2.
The PineBuds Pro should last up to 5 hours between charges of their 40 mAh batteries, which can be topped via the 800 mAh battery integrated within their bundled charging case. Supposedly, the charging case provides up to 4 full charges for 25 hours of overall usage, while the earbuds themselves are IPX4 against dust and water ingress. Arguably, one of the more exciting parts of the PineBuds Pro is its support for custom open-source firmware, details of which you can find in the earbuds’ wiki. The PineBuds Pro is orderable now from PINE64 for US$69.99 plus shipping and taxes.
