An updated version of the Philips Hue GU10 spotlight bulbs is rumored to be on the way. The current variant of the smart light is already available worldwide with White, White Ambiance or White and Color Ambiance, and it is sold in single and multipacks.
According to a report by Hueblog.com, which includes product images (below), the new GU10 smart spotlights would be brighter than their predecessors. Of the older generation of products, only the White version could reach a brightness level of 400 lumens. It has been suggested that White Ambiance and White and Color Ambiance versions of the bulb will offer 400 lumens brightness at 4,000K, up from 350 lumens. At the warmer color temperature of 2,700K, the maximum brightness has been increased from 230 lumens to 350 lumens.
On top of this, the energy efficiency rating has been improved, moving from class G to class E. It has also been indicated that the bulb’s power consumption is around 4.2W. Hueblog says that this new version of the Philips Hue GU10 bulbs has been spotted in “some countries”, though it does not specify which. It is worth noting that Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance bulbs offering up to 400 lumens brightness are already on sale in the US, where a single bulb retails for $54.99. It remains to be seen whether or when the supposedly new Philips Hue GU10 spotlight products could launch in other markets and at what price.
